Lisa Kleypas: Secrets of a Summer Night
Kuuntelin vast’ikään Lisa Kleypasin historiallista romantiikkaa edustavan romaanin Devil in Winter, josta tuli yks mun all time suosikeista kyseisestä genrestä. Oli siis pakko kuunnella The Wallflowers -kirjasarjan muutkin osat! Secrets of a Summer Night aloittaa kirjasarjan. Siinä pääsemme tutustumaan neljään ns. seinäruusuun, joista tulee ystäviä keskenään. He päättävät auttaa toisiaan löytämään sulhaset pikimmiten, jotta he eivät saisi ”vanhapiika” leimaa.
Tässä kirjassa tarinan keskiössä on köyhyyteen ajatunut ja myötäjäisensä menettänyt Annabelle, sekä omine apuineen rikastunut Simon Hunt.

Tässä osassa on sitä samaa ihanaa, lämmintä ja kotoisaa tunnelmaa, mitä rakastin Devil in Winterissäkin. Hahmot oli aivan ihania! Annabelle on köyhtynyt, mutta oman arvonsa tunteva, ja haluaa mielummin löytää itselleen aviomiehen, kuin ryhtyä rikkaalle miehelle rakastajaksi. Hän etsii perheelleen ja omaan tilanteeseensa turvaa ja vakaata ratkaisua.
Oli jotenkin hauska seurata miten Simon yrittää saada Annabellea itselleen, ymmärtämättä kuitenkaan yhtään tämän tilannetta. Heidän suhteensa kehityskulku olikin varsin kiinnostavaa luettavaa. Simon oli ihana hahmo, välillä melko suorapuheinen, mutta omalla tavallaan välittävä ja lämmin.
Parasta antia kirjassa oli tyttöporukan ystävyyden seuraaminen ja tietysti Simonin ja Annabellen keskinäinen kemia ja kiertely ja kaartelu keskenään. Kirjassa oli huumoria, lämminhenkisyyttä, romantiikkaa, 1800-lukua…
Kirjan lukijana toimi Rosalyn Landor, josta tykkäsin.
